General Conditions for car rental in Nicaragua
At time of rental, when picking-up a car, AVIS customers may choose to accept or to decline optional coverage or insurance by checking into the corresponding box (accept or reject). Once the contract is signed and coverage/insurance is accepted, it will not be refundable.
25 years. Drivers between the ages of 21 - 24 years may drive an AVIS rental car by presenting a pre-paid voucher.
At the moment the Rental Agreement is opened, a valid Driver´s License and the driver´s passport must be presented. The License should have been issued at the country of origin. In those cases where an International Driver´s License is presented, it must be presented with the Driver´s License of the country of origin of the driver and the driver´s passport. International Driving Licence together with the Driving License of the country of origin.
An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time you collect your vehicle; said credit card will be blocked to be used as a guarantee and to cover any extra charge not included in the Voucher, such as, gas, insurance deductible, etc.
Debit cards are not accepted.
• Additional driver: All additional drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver's license requirements as the renter. All additional drivers must be present at time of pick-up of the rental vehicle.Important
Avis and Avis licensees reserve the right to refuse any request for rental including requests for persons under age, persons not in possession of a recognized full and valid driver's license, persons unable to satisfy credit or cash requirements, or persons who, in the opinion of Avis, constitute a risk.
Insurances and Coverages
• Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Waiver of financial responsibility in case of damage to the rental car, with a deductible. With CDW, in the event damage to the Avis car, the renter will be responsible for a deductible starting from USD 500.00. In the event of theft, the renter will be responsible for a deductible of 20% of the value of the vehicle. CDW does not cover partial theft (accessories, parts, etc.) and does not cover theft that occurs due to customer's negligence (not locking vehicle or securing keys, etc). If the vehicle is declared a Total Loss, a non-waivable excess of 20% of the value of the vehicle rented will apply. The renter will be responsible for the full cost of the damage if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement and/or the law, is abused or driven recklessly or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Some rates include this coverage. • Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) Coverage of civil liability and damage to the property of third parties. It applies whenever the terms of the rental agreement are not violated. It is mandatory. • Partial Damage Waiver (PDW) Coverage that provides additional protection. The renter will be responsible for the full cost of the damage if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement, is abused or driven recklessly or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Travel into other countries
Avis cars rented in Nicaragua are not allowed to cross borders into other countries.
