General Conditions for car rental in Germany
At time of rental, when picking-up a car, AVIS customers may choose to accept or to decline optional coverage or insurance by checking into the corresponding box (accept or reject). Once the contract is signed and coverage/insurance is accepted, it will not be refundable.
In Germany, the minimum age is 25 years for all groups of vehicles. There is a surcharge for young drivers aged 21-24: Group A (Economy): allowed for customers aged 18-24 paying the Young Driver surcharge Group J (Luxury): only rented to drivers aged 25 years or more. The cost of Young Driver surcharge is 11.90 EUR per day, per driver, with a maximum of 119.00 EUR per rental per driver. Values subject to change.
At time of rental, it is necessary to present the personal ID or valid passport and an International Driving Permit together with the driver's license issued at the renter’s country of origin. The latter must have been issued at least one year prior to rental. These requirements are valid for the renter and the additional drivers as well. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is a translation of the customer's Driver's License only, and it alone is not accepted for the rental of a vehicle.
The renter will be required to present an international credit card accepted by Avis at the time of rental. Avis will generally request an authorization hold against the customer’s account for the estimated extra charges not included in the Voucher, such as gasoline, the deductible of the insurance, etc. When renting a LUXURY car the renter will be required to present two major credit cards issued by two different companies at time of the rental. One of the cards must be Golden or Platinum.
Debit cards are not accepted.
• Additional drivers: All additional drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver's license requirements as the renter. All additional drivers must be present at time of pick-up of the rental vehicle.
