General Conditions for car rental in Chile

At time of rental, when picking-up a car, AVIS customers may choose to accept or to decline optional coverage or insurance by checking into the corresponding box (accept or reject). Once the contract is signed and coverage/insurance is accepted, it will not be refundable.

• Driver’s License/Passport:
At the moment the Rental Agreement is opened, a valid Driver´s License and the driver´s passport must be presented. The License should have been issued at the country of origin. In those cases where an International Driver´s License is presented, it must be presented with the Driver´s License of the country of origin of the driver and the driver´s passport. International Driving Licence together with the Driving License of the country of origin.
• Driver’s License Requirements:
Valid driver's license from country of residence is required. International driving license is required only for countries with non-Roman alphabet. International driving license is a translation only.
• Credit Card:
An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time you collect your vehicle; said credit card will be blocked to be used as a guarantee and to cover any extra charge not included in the Voucher, such as, gas, insurance deductible, etc.
• Debit Cards:
Debit cards are not accepted.
• Additional drivers: All additional drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver's license requirements as the renter. All additional drivers must be present at time of pick-up of the rental vehicle.
Important
Avis and Avis licensees reserve the right to refuse any request for rental including requests for  persons under age, persons not in possession of a recognized full and valid driver's license, persons unable to satisfy credit or cash requirements, or  persons who, in the opinion of Avis, constitute a risk.

Insurances and Coverages

• Motor Liability Insurance
Public liability and property damage coverage is included in the rates. Please, verify the scope and limits of this coverage.
• Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
Optional coverage that partially releases the renter of financial responsibility in the event of loss, theft or damages to the rental car. 
Mandatory in Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales.
LDW reduces the customer’s financial responsibility for the Avis vehicle as a result of an accident, fire or theft.  LDW does not cover windshield damage/cracks or damage to tires or wheel rims.  Theft coverage does not cover car accessories such as radio, hub caps, etc.
In the event of collision, the client will be responsible for a deductible starting from USD 250.00 depending on the rented car group. In the event of theft, the client will be responsible for a deductible starting from USD 2500.00 depending on the rented car group. In case of car turnover, rollover or being flipped, the customer is responsible for a deductible starting from USD 2500.00 depending on the rented car group.
The renter will be responsible for the full cost of the damage if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement, is abused or driven recklessly or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Some rates include this coverage.

• ALI (Additional Liability Insurance)
Incrases the amount covered by Motor Liability Insurance up to USD 100,000.00. Please, verify costs and availability at time of booking.
One Way Rentals
Avis allows renters to return the car in a different Avis location from where it was picked-up, always within the same city, at no additional cost. An additional fee may apply if the renter returns the car in a different city from where it was picked-up. Not allowed from/to Punta Arenas and/or Puerto Natales. Travel into other countries

Avis cars rented in Chile are not allowed to cross borders into other countries.
