General Conditions for car rental in Canada
At time of rental, when picking-up a car, AVIS customers may choose to accept or to decline optional coverage or insurance by checking into the corresponding box (accept or reject). Once the contract is signed and coverage/insurance is accepted, it will not be refundable.
Canadian Dollar (CAD)
25 years. Customers under 25 years old (ages 21-24) can rent certain groups of vehicles, if they present a prepaid voucher issued with rates published on this website including LDW (Loss Damage Waiver). They must pay a Young Driver fee of CAD 35.00 per day. Value subject to change. Luxury cars, mini-vans, 12-passenger vans, specialty cars, and SUVs are only rented to drivers 25 years or older.
At time of rental, a valid driver's license from country of residence and passport are required. In case of presenting an international driver’s license, it should be presented together with the driving permit of the country of origin and the passport.
The renter will be required to present an international credit card accepted by AVIS at the time of rental. Avis will generally request an authorization hold against the customer’s account for the estimated extra charges not included in the Voucher, such as gasoline, the deductible of the insurance, etc.
Debit cards are not accepted for the guarantee deposit in Canada.
• Additional drivers: CAD 15.00 per driver, per day. All additional drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver's license requirements as the renter. All additional drivers must be present at time of pick-up of the rental vehicle.
Travel into other countries
• One-Way Rentals Canada Vehicles rented in Canada can be driven throughout the Canadian Provinces with no restrictions. Based on availability; One-way rentals may be allowed to some Canadian cities. USA Vehicles rented in Canada can be driven throughout the continental US with no restrictions. Based on availability; One-way rentals may be allowed to some US cities. Alaska Vehicles rented in Canada are not allowed to travel into Alaska. Mexico Vehicles rented in Canada are not allowed to travel into Mexico.
