General Conditions for car rental in Brazil
At time of rental, when picking-up a car, AVIS customers may choose to accept or to decline optional coverage or insurance by checking into the corresponding box (accept or reject). Once the contract is signed and coverage/insurance is accepted, it will not be refundable.
Between 10% and 12% depending on the starting rental location.
Valid driver's license issued at the renter's country of origin is required (must have been held for at least 2 years), along with an International Driver’s License and Passport (required for non-Mercosur residents) or ID (required for Mercosur residents).
An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time you collect your vehicle; said credit card will be blocked to be used as a guarantee and to cover any extra charge not included in the Voucher, such as, gas, insurance deductible, etc.
Debit cards are not accepted.
Avis and Avis licensees reserve the right to refuse any request for rental including requests for persons under age, persons not in possession of a recognized full and valid driver's license, persons unable to satisfy credit or cash requirements, or persons who, in the opinion of Avis, constitute a risk.
Insurances and Coverages
• Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) Mandatory coverage that partially releases the renter of financial responsibility in the event of loss, theft or damages to the rental car. With LDW, the renter will be responsible for a deductible that varies according to the car group rented. Does not cover damage to the windshield. The renter will be responsible for the full cost of the damage if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement, is abused or driven recklessly or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Some rates include this coverage in their cost. Important: Police report is mandatory for coverage of any loss and/or damage within a maximum of 24 hours. Upon occurrence of accident/damage renter is also required to complete the "Avis Accident Report" form. Coverages does not include damage to tires, wheels, keys or documents or damage or loss due to natural diasters. • ALI - Aditional Liability Insurance Coverage of civil liability towards third parties. In the event of an accident with an Avis car, covers up to BRL 50,000.00 for property damage, and up to BRL 50,000.00 for bodily damage. The renter will be responsible for a deductible of BRL 1,000.00. The renter will be responsible for the full cost of the damage if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement, is abused or driven recklessly or while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Avis allows renters to return the car in a different Avis location from where it was picked-up, always within Brazil. An additional fee may apply if the vehicle is returned in a different city. Subject to availability at time of booking. For more information: firstname.lastname@example.org
• Additional drivers: USD 7.00 plus Tax per day, per additional driver. All additional drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver's license requirements as the renter. All additional drivers must be present at time of pick-up of the rental vehicle.
Travel into other countries
Avis cars rented in Brazil are not allowed to cross borders into other countries. ( ! ) Information and values are subject to change without prior notice. ( ! ) All values are subject to tax unless otherwise specified.
