General Conditions for car rental in Australia
At time of rental, when picking-up a car, AVIS customers may choose to accept or to decline optional coverage or insurance by checking into the corresponding box (accept or reject). Once the contract is signed and coverage/insurance is accepted, it will not be refundable.
Australian Dollar (AUD)
25 years. Drivers aged 21-24 may drive cars from car groups A, B, C and D. A daily Young Driver Fee per driver applies.
At the moment the Rental Agreement is opened, a valid Driver´s License and the driver´s passport must be presented. The License should have been issued at the country of origin. An International Driver's License is required for Driver's Licenses written in a language other than English. In those cases where an International Driver´s License is presented, it must be presented with the Driver´s License of the country of origin of the driver and the driver´s passport.
Valid driver's license from country of residence is required. International driving license is required only for countries with non-Roman alphabet. International driving license is a translation only.
An International credit card accepted by AVIS will be required at the time you collect your vehicle; said credit card will be blocked to be used as a guarantee and to cover any extra charge not included in the Voucher, such as, gas, insurance deductible, etc.
Debit cards are not accepted.
• Additional drivers: All additional drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver's license requirements as the renter. All additional drivers must be present at time of pick-up of the rental vehicle.One Way Rentals
Avis allows renters to return the car in a different Avis location from where it was picked-up, always within Continental Australia or one of its islands. An additional fee may apply (domestic one-way), depending on the starting and ending Avis locations. One-Way rentals are not allowed from/to Australian islands. Unless authorised in writing by Avis, it is not allowed to drive or take the vehicle to certain areas: (a) to Gove Peninsula or any island off the coast of Australia (including, but not limited to, Kangaroo Island, Bruny Island, Fraser Island, Magnetic Island, Groote Eylandt or the Tiwi Islands); (b) into or out of the Northern Territory, Western Australia or Tasmania; (c) in Queensland: (1) on Highway No.27: beyond Chillagoe in a Westerly direction; (2) on Highway No.1: beyond Normanton in a Southerly, direction and no further North than Karumba; (3) if the Vehicle is a passenger vehicle or truck, beyond Cooktown to the North or Lakeland to the West and no further North than Cape Tribulation on the Coast Road; (4) on the Coast Road from Helenvale to Cape Tribulation, or from Laura to Lakeland, unless the Vehicle is a 4 wheel drive vehicle; (d) in the snow (at any time and anywhere (including Tasmania)); (e) above the snow line in: (1) New South Wales (being Jindabyne); (2) Victoria (being Bright), from the beginning of June until the end of September; (f) on beaches or through streams, dams, rivers or flood waters; (g) in Western Australia, to any parts North of Carnarvon; (h) in the Northern Territory, on the Jim Jim Falls Road to Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls.
Travel into other countries
